The Sanibel Public Library is offering a variety of upcoming programs and activities.

On March 6 at 10 a.m., Richard Gollin will present a program on the development of the V-2 rocket; the world's first long-range guided ballistic missile. The missile, powered by a liquid-propellant rocket engine, was developed during World War II in Germany to attack Allied cities.

The library's Duane Shaffer will present his World War II 1942 program about the Soviet Naval Base at Sevastopol on March 13 at 10 a.m. The Soviet naval base at Sevastopol was a valuable target. Demaris Peters Pike will return with her program, "Que Sera, Sera - Remembering Doris Day," on March 16 at 10 a.m. Demaris will recount Day's youth in Cincinnati, her start as a big band singer and rise to stardom in movies, including several songs associated with the star such as "It's Magic," "My Secret Love" and "Sentimental Journey."

Bring your own phone, tablet or laptop to the library on March 17 at 10 a.m. for a one-hour session to learn how to use social media, led by Librarian Beth Jarrell. Class will includes do's and don'ts of Facebook and Instagram settings, and how to keep personal data secure. Also learn how to make phone calls on Facebook messenger, send a private message and post photos.

Licensed insurance professionals from Informed Choice will present a program about Medicare on March 17 at 1 p.m. Whether you are turning 65 or are 65-plus and still working, it will help you make an informed decision about Medicare options. Presenter is not connected with the Federal Medicare program. Food will be provided. To register, call 239-208-7090.

Dr. Brian Formolo will discuss how to lose weight - and keep it off - by optimizing your metabolism on March 20 at 10 a.m. A Sanibel resident, he has 23 years of experience as a holistic chiropractic physician.

For ages 12 to 18, Teen Scene will be held on March 26 at 6 p.m. Hang out, socialize, play games, create and eat. Registration required; call the library or visit the online library calendar to enroll.

In addition, the following weekly programs are available for youth:
