Progressive Club to hold candidate debate

The Progressive Club of the Islands will sponsor a candidate debate for Florida Congressional District 19 with Democrats David Holden and Cindy Banyai on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at The Community House.

Holden has a political science degree from Temple University and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University's John. F. Kennedy School of Government. His training in leadership and organizational development led him to California, where he served as deputy director of the California Association of Social Rehabilitation Agencies, a nonprofit in the field of mental health.

Banyai is a member of the faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University's Political Science and Public Administration. A professional in the field of community development for almost 20 years, she has collaborated with nonprofits around the world on issues such as homelessness, children's services, education and sustainable development. Banyai is a mother and small business owner.

The candidates will answer questions from the audience.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

To join the club, member dues of $30 per person or $60 per couple are payable to the PCI. Checks should be mailed to PCI, P.O. Box 898, Sanibel, FL, 33957.
