The Captiva Civic Association Foundation and Captiva Civic Association will host its 52nd Annual ABC Gala on Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Captiva Civic Center, at 11550 Chapin Lane.

It will feature a live charity auction with auctioneer Tommy Williams and dinner catered by The Sanctuary Golf Club, along with music, hors d'oeuvres and an open bar.

Some of this year's auction items will include: an all-day deep-sea fishing expedition for six; safari tour of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's lands; ride on the Captiva Island Fire Control District's fire engine; ride on SCCF's new research vessel; sailing cruise aboard for up to 20; artwork by Robert Rauschenberg; South Seas Island Resort premium golf membership; Boca Grande and Useppa luncheon cruises; five-course chef-prepared dinner; and 2007 Volkswagen EOS convertible.

One auction item is a pristine, 2007 Volkswagen EOS convertible, with under $19,000 miles.

The event began more than a half-century ago and was dubbed the "ABC Sale," Executive Director Paul Garvey said. Association members were urged to scour their attics, basements and closets to come up with items that could be sold at a tag sale or flea market to raise money - hence its "ABC" title.

The proceeds will benefit the CCA Foundation and CCA.

Island cocktail attire is recommended.

Tickets are $150 per person; reservations are limited.

For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the CCA at 239-472-2111.
