Hoping to expand on the festivities and fun of the island's 34th annual Luminary Holiday Stroll, Jensen's Twin Palm Resort & Marina will host an artisan and live music earlier in the day.

Glow blower Chuck Wells, of Hot Georgia Glass, will have his mobile studio set up at the marina on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. He will blow glass and sell one-of-a-kind handcrafted ornaments.

"This is his first time coming to us," Manager Justin Harris said.

Chuck Wells, of Hot Georgia Glass will make and sell one-of-a-kind handcrafted glass-blown ornaments on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Jensen's Twin Palm Resort & Marina.

He explained that the Luminary activities do not start until later in the evening, but the marina was looking for something to offer during the day to make it more of a daylong event for attendees.

"To kind of make it a fun all-day experience, rather than just a few hours at night," he said.

Wells took over the glass blowing business from a couple who frequent the marina.

"We thought it would be fun, with the Luminary, to make these glass ornaments," Harris said. "We thought it'd be a cool event to get people here."

There will be pre-made ornaments for $27, or people can select their own colors for $33.

"Whatever colors your want," he said, noting that the studio will have a stand with different colors of glass to consider. "He takes those colors - and he melts them together to make the ornament."

"It's a 30-minute process of them doing it, from start to finish," Harris added.

Visitors are welcome to stay and watch the magic, grab a bite to eat, go shopping or relax.

"Depending on the weather, we might have some manatees swimming around the marina," he said.

The marina is well-known for its manatee sightings, which have occurred year-round.

Harris pointed out that there are also boat rentals and charters available.

"We do one-hour boat rides with captains," he said.

The Jensen's Marina Store has something for everyone for those seeking holiday gifts.

"We have stuffed manatees," Harris said. "We have hats, shirts - jackets even."

Shoppers will find postcards, coolie cups, coffee mugs, tumblers and more.

"There's fish and tackle if they're interested in fishing," he said.

"We have a wide range of items," Harris added.

People can also swing in and check out the "World's Smallest Fishing Museum."

"Our museum started out with a couple of good pictures and it grew from there," John Jensen, co-owner of Jensen's Twin Palm Resort & Marina, said. "We've probably had it for 10 years now."

Located outside of the office, it is small as its name claims, but it packs a punch.

The tackle box and fishing rods of famous baseball player Ted Williams are on display, along with tackle from days gone by, historic fishing rods, a couple of old outboard boat motors and such.

"Just a lot of little knickknacks and stuff that we've put in there over the years," he said.

There is a painted rocking chair from Pine Island artist Mel Meo.

"We also have a TV out there," Jensen said. "My brother, Jimmy, put some great videos together that play on it - old scenes of Captiva, old fishing guides like Bob Sabatino."

"People really like it," he added.

Later in the afternoon and into the early evening, the band Tanya & The Patio Daddios will perform live. The island musical trio is comprised of Tanya Mahanger, Dave Dust and Jimmy Jensen.

"They're going to be playing music," Harris said. "To give a cool feel to it (the day)."

Residents and visitors are welcome to swing by for the activities.

"It's a good thing for the community," Jensen said.
