The Captiva Island Historical Society is well-known for its programs designed to educate, enlighten and entertain residents and visitors on the island's rich history.

The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company is the presenting sponsor for this season's programs.

"It is with gratitude that the Captiva Island Historical Society recognizes The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company for their continuing and generous support, which helps us defray the cost of this season's programs," CIHS Board President Tom Libonate said.

The programming kicked off in November with Launch, Lunch and Look, a cruise to Boca Grande for a private buffet lunch and docent talk at the historic Gasparilla Inn. On Dec. 8, CIHS partnered with McCarthy's Marina for a dedication of the century-old Pops Randall House at City Dock, also known as Andy Rosse's.

A double-feature movie night will be held on Jan. 16 with the CIHS Captiva Memories documentary series: Volume IV "Artists & Authors" and Volume IV "South Seas: Captiva's Enduring Paradise." There will be complimentary refreshments and a cash bar beginning at 5:30 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel, followed by the showing at 6 p.m. Event tickets are $10, and seating is limited.

"The Captiva Island Historical Society does important work by preserving and interpreting the history of the island and providing education about the remarkable people and events that have shaped its past," Al Hanser, chairman of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, said.
