"During this session, a myth will be disputed. Diabetes does not come from eating sugar. It is the result of how your body processes insulin. It is a disease in which the body's ability to produce or respond to insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose. This will be an opportunity for individuals interested in learning more about diabetes, or those with diabetes, to learn about new treatment options and possible new medications. Management of the disease can lead to a comfortable, quality lifestyle," F.I.S.H. Program Director Kathy Y. Monroe said.

The workshop is open to the public and lunch will be provided.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Monroe at 239-472-4775.
